In many parts of the world, the water hyacinth plant is an invasive plant that spreads rapidly and chokes waterways. It is often considered a nuisance. However, along the Mekong river people find many uses for it. Humans are resourceful and creatively use plants and other local natural resources. A few examples are the coconut palms and bamboo reeds. In this story we see how the people living by the river use the leaves as food as well and the
