About The Story

Charlie, a child with autism, sometimes struggles to communicate or seems distant, but with the support of his loving family, he thrives like any other child. Disabilities come in many forms-autism, dyslexia, and speech challenges like stammering-and with the right support, children can feel a sense of belonging. Inclusion means recognizing each child's strengths and providing the support they need to thrive. Here are two examples, Abdul, a child with dyslexia, excels in storytelling despite his difficulty with writing. Read more about his journey here: Abdul's Story. In another story, Why is Nita Upside Down?, Nita, who stammers, overcomes her fear of rejection with the help of an understanding friend who shows her that everyone is different. (You can find others under the drop-down menu of Themes). When friends, families and educators embrace diversity, we create communities where all children are valued and recognized, regardless of their challenges.
